Elizabeth Towers
Location
Sector
Fabworx was engaged to supply and install exterior metalwork for the Elizabeth Towers development.
What began as a defined package of flashings and façade elements rapidly evolved into a complex, large-scale commitment as the project grew in scope. Working alongside Hawkins Construction and collaborating directly with the architect, Fabworx delivered numerous custom metalwork solutions across the build, contributing to one of Tauranga’s most prominent CBD landmarks.

A major metalwork package for a CBD development
Initially contracted to deliver metalwork flashings and façade components, Fabworx’s role expanded significantly as the project progressed. Across the construction programme, the team delivered a wide range of exterior metalwork elements. Many required a custom resolution as new site conditions and design changes emerged.

Across the construction programme, the team delivered a wide range of exterior metalwork elements. Many required a custom resolution as new site conditions and design changes emerged.
Evolving scope and close collaboration
With approximately 400 variations issued to Fabworx alone, the project demanded constant coordination, responsive design input, and rapid adjustment to sequencing. In several areas, Fabworx worked directly with the architect to develop practical, buildable solutions that aligned with the evolving design intent.
The Challenge
As each part of the building progressed, new details were required or existing details needed major refinement. Communication and clarity were critical, and more complex than usual, simply due to the size and pace of the development.
The Solution
Fabworx provided tailored solutions where off-the-shelf options wouldn’t suffice, offering input on time, cost, constructability and, when required, undertaking its own engineering and design work. The team’s ability to adapt, problem-solve, and deliver under changing conditions ensured the metalwork package continued to align with client’s requirements.
